Empty nesters feel happier(??){ST Mind your Body 29/1/09}
Mummy came across this article from the papers yesterday and was intrigued by the statistics presented. It claimed that couples spend 1/3 less time alone when they have a child. Going by that equation, couples will have NO time alone by the time they have their 3rd bundle of joy! Mummy shared this with Daddy, who thought otherwise. According to Daddy, the more children we have, we actually have more or same amount of time to spend with each other as we are less particular about them. Since caring for them, cooking for them, making milk for them can be done simultaneously, we actually wouldn't have to sacrifice our couple time!
True. Mummy looked back to the days when there was only Donovan in the brood. She was always uptight about all the nitty-gritty that concerns Donovan. She revolves her life around this precious rascal and almost lost traces of her own existence in the process. By the time Dominus came along, Mummy found her infactuation with her kids being too much to take and hence relaxed. Mummy appreciates movie dates with Daddy without bearing so much of guilt she've had before and has since acknowledged that there's more to life than just kids!
Well, who says empty nesters feel happier? Mummy treasures the evolving relationship between Daddy and is comforted by the fact that they can mature and age together. With this noisy and destructive brood, we're definitely happier than if we were to have just each other to stare at, day in and out!!
