Back to square one...

Went to speak to my Principal with my RO today. Cutting the long story short, she offered my a reduced workload that allows me to report for work after I have sent my boys to childcare at 9am. That was in response to my feedback about valuing time with my kids every morning when I send them to school. During our bus/mrt journey, I get to talk to them a lot, read to them a lot and this was the part I missed most from the day my maternity leave ended. I appreciate the understanding and leeway that was given to me and I left the office feeling rather happy.

The only imperfection is that I still wouldn't be able to spend 'lost' time with Baby Rei, which makes me rather guilty and upset. Already Im very pre-occupied with the elder 2 that Im not spending enough time with him and now my decision tears me further away from him. I hope he doesn't register so much of Mummy's absence during the day as he is asleep most of the mornings anyway.

From my previous blog entry and other verbal accounts to friends, I realised there are many people who actually are very concerned about me and value my presence. Those who expressed that they'd like me to continue working with them were happy that Im not leaving. Im glad to have such nice colleagues around. Afterall, they are one of the biggest motivation for me to report to work. I enjoy the coffee breaks, the exchanges between like-minded mothers, the silent support when faced with tremendous stress etc.

To Yong: Yes, Im returning to work, not so much for the $ (they're paying peanuts anyway) but at least I still can buy shoes, bags and clothes! Haaaa...

To Sharon: I hope my kids get best of both worlds with Mummy working less hours.

To Hubby: I hope your prediction won't come true; that I'll come home unhappy because the management go back on their words, dump me with added duties and affect my attitude with the kids. I hope with the several hours away from home, I can return to be a better Mummy.
