Donovan... DoNoVaN... DONOVAN!!

Gor Gor Donovan had been exhibiting signs of independence these recent months. He'll always start with,"Donovan...." to indicate that he wants to carry out a particular chore all by himself. It could be closely related to the compliments that we'll generously shower him with. He'll want to put on his own pants, occasionally putting on his own shoes, carry his own bag, climb the stairs, wash his hands, feed himself etc. Lately, he'd even requested to prepare his own milk! He'll skillfully climb onto the chair at the dining table and reach for the water dispenser. Then he'll scoop the formula gingerly (cause I've warned him about dirtying the table and spilling) and pour into his milk bottle. The shaking is then left for me to do while he makes his way down from the chair. Haaa, he even came to confess about a spillage at his 3rd attempt.

However, there were also times when he acts like a helpless baby and Mummy couldn't stand it. He'll want to be carried all the way while we're shopping, he'll refuse to put on his shoes once he knew that he'd gotten the wrong side on the wrong foot, he'll expect Mummy to feed him too when he sees Mummy feeding baby Dominus (and he expects Mummy to blow cool his soup before every mouthful even though the soup is already cold!!), he'll expect Mummy to cradle him like a baby while he drinks milk and many more!

Actually, Mummy has seen this trait among many other children too. This over-reliance acts as a security to the kids as they are reassured whenever a familiar adult carries out that same baby-sitting chore repeatedly, even though they are fully capable of completing that task all by themselves. Though Mummy welcomes the independence, she still doesn't want to let go of her angels (by night; Zzz... but rascals by day) so soon!
