Our humble home
We shifted into our new flat in Serangoon Central last weekend on 2nd May 2010. Our family has grown significantly (in numbers and size) and we desperately needed more space. We had our first taste of independence and were glad that the boys have no problem adapting to the new place.
We decided to have a major renovation since we didn't do much when first bought over the house and since it was rented out to other people, we thought a major revamp was necessary. Hubby and I decided on a Black-and-White theme to brighten up the house. We wanted more space for the kids to run around so we hacked some walls to open up the space. Our fengshui consultant suggested we reposition some doors and make a wider entrance to the kitchen.
Furniture shopping was fun. However, our choices of colours was very limited (black and white remember?) and that made it quite tough for us to source and select. Still, we've gotten stuff that we like and some with neat discounts. Kitchen cabinets, shoe rack and wardrobe is custom-made and Im so proud of my wardrobe, full 20feet of storage. That's because we hacked away our storeroom too. What a HACK!
Spent a tiny bomb on renovation and fixtures. But seeing that the kids have more space to chase each other around, we felt it was all worth the while. Still, the boys' favourite spot isn't in the house; its the brand new playground downstairs, totally visible through our window.
We would like to thank my parents-in-law for taking good care of us all these years and my parents for helping out during cleaning and unpacking.
