The poor brothers had a brush with this widely-publicised but little-experienced disease last week. Donovan came down with a fever on the 15th of Sep but was under control with some paracetomol. We kept him at home anyway, just to let him have better rest. 2 days later, little Dominus came down with fever too. It was an added disappointment when we had initially scheduled for a family trip to the Singapore Flyer.
Accompanied with fever, the boys experienced runny nose and cough too. Donovan's airway was heavily bloked with phlegm and that cause him to vomit volumes of them whenever he coughs badly. It was during the pre-dawn hours of Saturday when we found him trembling in bed with a burning temperature of 41 degrees! Mummy and Daddy were scared stiff. After gathering all that we need and getting grandma to come watch over Little Dominus, we rushed to KKH. Time seemed to crawl when Mummy hugged the little burning fellow in the car even though daddy was driving at 140km/hr. Mummy was overwhelmed by fear and worst imaginations that she cried throughout the journey.
True enough, Donovan had to be admitted. He was initially happy as he knew KKH has his favourite Macdonald's restaurant. But when he sees never-ending syringes of medicine being delivered to him 4 hourly, he cried buckets. When Mummy had run out of ways to cajole him into taking his medicine, Mummy cried as loudly as him. That method worked! Haa....
Presently, Donovan is still in KKH undergoing treatment. Mummy and Daddy had to work as exams are around the corner and with graduating classes under their belt, they had no choice but to leave the little ones under the care of respective grandmothers. When Mummy called Donovan at his ward, he cried upon hearing Mummy's voice! Oh Dear! Mummy's heart shattered! Motherhood is a journey of merciless heartaches!
