Mummy's new job, new challenge, new perspective
We're always asked to live each day to the fullest, as if it were our last. But do we actually believe its really going to be the last day? Chances are we don't. We always think we have more time. But what if we don't? What if we didn't even have time to say good-bye to our loved ones? If our whole life is flashed before us, would we have regrets for any issues? What would we have done differently?
Sounds depressing? Well, that's what Mummy has to ask her clients to raise their awareness about the vulnerability of life. Mummy had left teaching for awhile already and had joined the line of insurance. That's a whole world of difference. How different? The former is driven by passion while the latter takes off like a mission. The former centers around love while the latter revolves around figures. But does Mummy enjoy the new job? Well, to a certain extent, yes. There's a lot of time freedom in this line. Mummy can stay at home when we're unwell. She need not kill trees to apply for child care leave when we're scheduled for school excursions. Mummy can choose to bring Grandma anywhere anytime when she previously can only do so during the school holidays. Mummy can meet up with friends whom she probably wouldn't have time for if she were still teaching. All these benefits, priceless.
However, there's also a price to pay for these changes; a price too high to be paid, in Mummy's opinion. This new job nature had put some of Mummy's most treasured friendships to test. Many a time, Mummy had to face some truths which could have otherwise not surfaced if she hadn't chosen to work as a financial life planner. Some have put it across very frankly; that the same lingo was spoken when they were in the same boat. But now that Mummy had left the boat, it was mere acquaintanceship that Mummy had mistaken for friendship. Painful? Definitely.
Mummy was told that insurance is a line where she'll lose many friendships, but Mummy refused to believe as she felt her sincerity with friends would break that myth. But it seemed that there's a lot of truth to it. The consolation stands that along the way, she'll gain more friendship and strengthen those who strode shoulder to shoulder with her as she changed a job description. After all, its only the job title that had changed, not Mummy. Right?
