OMG! So Pan-Tang (superstitious)!
Last Saturday Grandma had a taste of Baby Rei's tantrums that spills late into the night. Having only heard from Mummy's verbal account of how difficult Baby Rei is, Grandma witnessed how Baby Rei fussed and cried from 1-4am. The crying of course, woke almost everyone and we were all unable to get to sleep, except for my other 3Ds! Grandma got worried and bought Jin Feng San for Rei. This is a Chinese remedy for babies who were deemed to be frightened and easily distressed. After about 3 doses of this medicine, Baby Rei surprisingly was able to sleep soundly through the night!. Mummy began to trust Grandma's words for once.
Grandma then subsequently advised that we plant a promegranate tree outside our home and decorate it with red ribbons. In addition, we have to bathe Rei with pomelo leaves too. Grandma then 'researched' with some fellow aunties that another type of plant 'cures' this morbid crying of babies too but warned that this new plant cannot be placed right next to the promegranate tree or else the effect wouldn't be felt. Also, Baby Rei has to avoid the 'clash' with any 'red or white' occasions like weddings or funerals and he cannot be carried by pregnant women too. He cannot be praised and if any of these is committed, he has to bathe in pomelo leaves to cleanse himself. We'll have to try not to bring him out of the home too late in the evenings too. Gosh, when it comes to aunties, nothing medically explained can beat the divine powers of superstitions. However, Mummy gladly played along with Grandma's suggestions as nothing is worse than having to survive Rei's erractic crying in the dead of the night, every night.
