Donovan is ill!

It'd been a long long while since Donovan last fell ill. We were not looking forward to it, but rather we were counting our blessings that he was happy and healthy in his school. This morning, he woke up vomiting repeatedly. Before Mummy left for work, Mummy thought he felt a little warm to the touch so got Daddy to measure his temperature. It was on the high 38.7-39 degree celcius. He seemed a little lethargic so we thought it could be due to waking up so early from all the vomiting. Daddy chose to stay home and be with him as Mummy needed to be in school.

It is very often in such situations when I feel like the rope in the game of tug-of-war. Facing the demands of work and weighing it against the responsibilities of being a Mummy (especially in times of emergency) I really felt torn. I often ask myself what constitutes a good parent. Being physically present to attend to odd hours' needs, or having to drag my feet to work knowing that my heart and mind is pre-occupied with my ill child?
